About the performer:

Nonet Donum is a vocal ensemble consisted of nine young singers from Varaždin, under the artistic leadership of Varaždin Cathedral organist, Višeslav Jaklin. It is founded in summer 2011 as Octet Donum because of the initiative of Sofija Cingula, mezzo-soprano, who gathered young, gifted musicians from St. Nicholas’s Church. Since then, the ensemble changed a few setups, and the last one, nonet, the same as the first one, was presented in 2016 during Varaždin Baroque Evenings. From the early beginnings, Nonet is focused primarily on sacral music, especially on early periods – renaissance and (early) baroque, although they perform the works of the later compositors as well as Croatian traditional sacral music. On their repertoire, they have the works of Palestrina, de Victoria, Allegri, Lotti, Bach, Händel, Haydn, Mozart, Kodály, Barber, Klobučar, Bobić and other significant compositors. From their beginnings up to now, Nonet has held many noted performances, out of which the most remarkable are: traditional Lenten concerts in Varaždin Cathedral, realized every year in cooperation with Varaždin Quartet and concert in Vatroslav Lisinski Concert Hall with renowned soloists, soprano Evelin Novak and bass-baritone, Krešimir Stražanac in 2017. Some other concerts also worth mentioning are a big project, Bach’s Christmas Oratorio in 2014 (first part) and in 2015 (second part), then premiered in Varaždin, for which occasion Nonet extended to the chamber choir. At the end of the year, Nonet is planning to have a tour in Canada. For all their performances, they have got extremely good critics. Love towards music, the joy of gathering and playing music and getting to know all music epochs, all ad maiorem Dei gloriam is what makes this chamber ensemble always better while revealing the secrets of each new composition on their repertoire. Tonight, Nonet Donum will present themselves in their basic composition in the first part, and in the extended – double in the second part.
