About the performer: 

Violoncellist Krešimir Lazar was born in Varaždin. He finished primary and secondary school in his hometown. He graduated from Zagreb Academy of Music in the class of professor V. Dešpalj who was also his mentor while mastering. He has won numerous awards both in Croatia and abroad, some of which include the first prize at the international competition Alfredo Marcosig in Gorizia (Italy), the award of Croatian Radio Television Amando Ivančić, the University of Zagreb Rector’s Award, the Zagreb Music Academy’s Dean’s Award, Croatian Music Institute Award, the award of the Society of University Teachers, Scholars and Other Scientists in Zagreb and the Jurica Murai Award at Varaždin Baroque Evenings in 2011 for the best solo interpretation. He held concerts in many European and Latin-American countries. He has also performed as soloist with Zagreb Philharmonic Orchestra, Varaždin Chamber Orchestra, Croatian Baroque Ensemble, Croatian Chamber Orchestra, and HGM Jazz Orchestra. Apart from the concert activities, he participated as a lecturer at the international strings festival Strings Only in Zadar and was also a member of the international jury at the competition of the same name. He was also a jury member at the international competition Alfredo and Vanda Marcosig in Gorizia (Italy) and at the National competition of musical pupils and students of Croatia and Slovenia. He is director and soloist in Varaždin Chamber Orchestra, the soloist and co-founder of Camerata Garestin ensemble and a member and co-founder of Amadeus Trio Zagreb ensemble. He is permanent associate of Croatian Radiotelevision Symphony Orchestra. For his performance held 2001 (within 41st VBE) with harpsichordist and organist Krešimir Has, Lazar was given the Jurica Murai Award by the official festival jury. He is a professor at Zagreb Academy of Music.

Organist and harpsichordist Krešimir Has directed his artistic activities to the high renaissance and baroque music, regularly performing on all relevant musical and specialized stages in the Republic of Croatia and abroad. After finishing organ and harpsichord studies at Zagreb Academy of Music and studying at Musikhochschule Lübeck, he became a member of Croatian Baroque Ensemble, ensembles Musica da camera and Erato, and a regular associate of Varaždin Chamber Orchestra. He is a co-founder of “Little Festival of Harpsichord” and the ensemble Camerata Garestin. He has been cooperating artistically with world known artists from the field of interpretation high renaissance and baroque music ((Eggar, Cummings, Mackintosh, Niquet, Mitchell, Marcon, Haselböck, Onofri and others). He is a winner of numerous awards and acknowledgments for his artistic musical work, one of which is a third place at the international organ competition Andrea Antico da Montona (held in Umag 2004), where Gustav Leonhard, the world’s largest role model in the interpretation of organ and harpsichord old music, was a chairman of the official jury. In 2007, he has proclaimed an independent artist, because of intensive multiannual artistic activities. In 2010, he met the conditions to become a docent of organ playing. Within 41 st VBE, he was awarded, together with Krešimir Lazar, the Jurica Murai Award by the official jury for their concert held 2011. He has published numerous records.
