Founded in 2013, Projekt Lazarus is an ensemble of professional musicians active on the Croatian and international music scene. Behind its distinctive name lies the ensemble's central mission: to research, revive and promote Croatia's rich musical heritage. It was founded by Robert Palić, a member of the Opera of the Croatian National Theatre in Zagreb, with the aim of rediscovering and presenting valuable, yet often neglected, works by Croatian composers. The ensemble places particular emphasis on works that are rarely performed today or have yet to receive a modern performance, as well as on compositions for which no audio or audiovisual recordings exist. Guided by the conviction that Croatia's musical heritage forms an important part of Europe's cultural tradition, Project Lazarus performs works by Late Renaissance, Baroque and contemporary composers, contributing to their rediscovery and their reintegration into today's concert life. The ensemble has given numerous acclaimed performances, including appearances at the 12th Festival of Croatian Music in Vienna (St. Peter's Church, 2016), the project In the Footsteps of Damjan Nembri, through which it performed at the 7th International Gaetano Callido Festival in Venice, the Varaždin Baroque Evenings, the international Seviqc Festival in Brežice, and the Osor Musical Evenings, as well as concerts in Rome, Bern, Munich, Valletta and many other cities across Croatia and Europe.
