The ensemble Responsorium is dedicated to the research and interpretation of vocal and instrumental repertoire from the seventeenth century, with a special focus on the achievements of early Croatian musical heritage. The ensemble operates in accordance with the principles of historically informed performance practice of early music, using replicas of authentic instruments and adhering to scientifically grounded stylistic guidelines. In its quest for authentic sounds, the ensemble has realized a number of successful projects, including several contemporary premieres of works by Croatian Baroque composers. A result of the ensemble's intensive musicological activity is the album Tomaso Cecchino: Madrigali et canzonette a tre voci 1617 (Croatia Records, 2017), released on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the collection's publication. Ensemble Responsorium regularly collaborates with renowned early music performers worldwide and joyfully shares its dedication with a loyal audience, performing at numerous festivals in Croatia (Varaždin Baroque Evenings; Music Evenings in St. Donatus; Concerts in Euphrasian Basilica; Dvigrad Festival; BaRoMus Festival) and abroad (Austria, Germany, Denmark, Slovenia, Czech Republic, Slovakia). The ensemble is a two-time laureate of the Ivan Lukačić Award by the jury of the Varaždin Baroque Evenings for its musicological work and performance achievements. The ensemble was awarded at the 49th Varaždin Baroque Evenings in 2019 for the project Tomaso Cecchino: Psalmi, missa et alia cantica and at the 52nd Varaždin Baroque Evenings in 2022 for the project Sancta Maria, Mater Ecclesiae – Marian Motets by Hieronimus Talonus Puljanin.
