About performer:

Franjo Bilić graduated harpsicord in the class of Pavao Mašić at the Zagreb Music Academy. He mastered harpsicord, clavichord and basso continuo at the Conservatorium van Amsterdam in the class od Menno va Delf and is currently studying conducting in the class of Mladen Tarbuk at the Zagreb Music Academy. Franjo performed across Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, Netherlands and France. He worked with numerous choirs and ensembles: Croatian Baroque Ensemble, Zagreb Soloists, Antiphonus Ensemble, Cantus Ensemble, Zagreb philharmonic, Symphonic orchestra of Croatian National Television, Dubrovnik Symphonic Orchestra, Zagreb Chamber Orchestra, Zagreb Youth Orchestra, Glazbene Staze Orchestra and Sweelinck Baroque Orchestra

In the period 2007-2013 in national competitions the music students in the disciplines of piano, chamber music and music theory, Franjo won eight first, three second and two third prizes. He won two Knowledge Oscars by the Agency for Education. In the Pianoforte competition in Porec, besides the first prize in his category, he was given a special award for the best performance of a composition by J.S. Bach. Franjo is the first harpsichordist winner of the 12th International Competition for Young Musicians Ferdo Livadic in Samobor and 50th Darko Lukic panel. He is the first Croat who signed up and won the second prize at the international competition of modern harpsichord literature Prix Annelie de Man in Amsterdam with two first time performing pieces.

Franjo teaches international summer seminars in Varaždin for harpsichord students that offer individual classes, Baroque dance group classes, lectures and recital. As a scholar of the French Institute in Rome, participated in the seminar, which specializes in French harpsichord literature in the Villa Medici in Rome. In 2018 he was the first harpsichordist winner of the prestigious Ivo Vuljević award presented by Croatian Music Youth. In 2019 he won first prize and special prize for the best interpretation of contemporary music at the competition Wanda Landowska in Bari (Italy). As a conductor he worked on the opera Agrippina by GF Handel in the National Theater in Zagreb as maestro al cembalo for which he won two Chancellor’s Award. He led the Zagreb Boys Choir and assisted the conductor Jasenka Ostojić in the choir Capella Odak. He attended master classes with Uros Lajovic, Daniele Gattii, David Danzmayra and Jan Cober. He attended seminars in the field of; piano, fortepiano, song presentation / piano accompaniment of singers, harpsichord (Christophe Rousset, Skip Sempe, Ketil Haugsand, Richard Egarr, Laurence Cummings, Aapo Hakkinen, Jacques Ogg …), baroque music, baroque dance, Organ improvisation, organ, harmonium d’art , orchestral and choral conducting. He is also doing composing work.
