About the performer:
The Camerata Garestin ensemble brings together leading Croatian vocal and instrumental performers of music from the 17th and 18th centuries. It was founded in 2008 at the instigation of Varaždin cellist Krešimir Lazar, with co-founders soprano Ivana Lazar, flutist Dani Bošnjak and harpsichordist and organist Krešimir Has. It is composed of musicians whose rich experiences have long contributed to the cultural and artistic life of the Republic of Croatia. This contribution of the members of the ensemble has been recognized several times by the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Croatia, which to a recognizable extent supports the work of the ensemble. Camerata Garestin has already been accompanied by very praiseworthy reviews, for example at the central Croatian baroque music festival Varaždin Baroque Evenings. The ensemble was also a guest at the prestigious international baroque music festival SEVIQC Brežice, and at the Festival of Croatian Music in Vienna, performing on the occasion at the famous Hofburgkapelle. Camerata Garestin is probably the first Croatian ensemble for early music professionally engaged in the Kingdom of the Netherlands (Voorshoten, den Haag, 2014), and he has also performed in Sweden, Slovakia, Germany, Austria and Bosnia and Herzegovina. Members of the ensemble play on replicas of baroque instruments. With its name, the ensemble nurtures the Croatian historical heritage, showing the medieval name of the city of Varaždin - Garestin, and is especially associated with the international festival of the Varaždin Baroque Evening, regularly performing at the same since its inception. The program guideline of the ensemble strives to present thematic concert projects, thus showing top works of European and Croatian masters of the High Renaissance, gallant style, Rococo and music of the earlier classical style. With special attention, the ensemble nurtures precisely the Croatian musical heritage with an emphasis on the works of Ivan Marko Lukačić, Vinko Jelić, Gabriel Puliti, Tomas Cecchini and Ivan Šibenčanin. The ensemble was awarded the Jurica Murai Prize as part of the 47th Varaždin Baroque. In 2018, the ensemble, with the solo role of Ivana Lazar, recorded the soundtrack Vulnerasti cor meum with works by Croatian early baroque masters.
