Marko Đurakić (1986) graduated from the University of Zagreb Academy of Music, where he studied composition and music theory, as well as organ with Mario Penzar. Alongside his work as a solo and chamber organist, he is active in organology, teaching and musicological research, with a particular focus on the preservation and evaluation of Croatia’s organ heritage. In collaboration with ecclesiastical and state authorities, he carried out surveys and inventories of the organs in the Diocese of Bjelovar-Križevci (2012–2014) and the Diocese of Sisak (2014). Since 2012, he has been involved in preparing restoration documentation for organs throughout the Diocese of Bjelovar-Križevci and has supervised more than thirty completed organ restoration projects. He is licensed by the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia to carry out work related to the protection and preservation of cultural heritage. He is the author of numerous professional and scholarly articles, entries published in the Encyclopaedia of Hrvatsko Zagorje, and the monograph The Organs of the Diocese of Bjelovar-Križevci. He has also been active in the field of church music for many years. From 2009 to 2024, he served as titular organist and regens chori at the Church of St. Francis of Assisi in Zagreb. He has also served as organ commissioner for the Diocese of Bjelovar-Križevci and as titular organist of Bjelovar Cathedral.
Đurakić is an artistic director of the Novigrad Autumn Organ Evenings festival. As an organist, he has appeared at numerous festivals, including the Varaždin Baroque Evenings, Orgulje Heferer, Orgulje zagrebačke katedrale, Ars Organi Sisciae and Mödlinger Orgelsommer. In addition to Croatia, he has performed in Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Italy, Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia and the United States.
